The Social Principles of the Teaching of Jesus, II. The Social Consequences of the Teaching of Jesus; Two Lectures Delivered before the University of Pennsylvania, April 22 (). Home» Browse» Books» Book details, The Social Teaching of Jesus Christ: I. Catholic social teaching is the Catholic doctrines on matters of human dignity and common good in society. The ideas address oppression, the role of the state, subsidiarity, social organization, concern for social justice, and issues of wealth distribution.

Below are just a few examples of how the early church put its faith in action in the public realm. The early Christians recognized the political implications of the faith. Catholic Social Teaching states that each and every person has value, are worthy of great respect and must be free from slavery, manipulation and exploitation. “Catholic social teaching believes that human beings, created in the image and likeness of God (Genesis ), have by their very existence an inherent value, worth, and distinction”.

Written in the first century, the Didache [DID-uh-kay] is the first known Christian catechesis and the earliest known Christian writing outside of Scripture. The name of the work, Didache, is appropriate for such a catechesis because it comes from the Greek word for "teaching" and indicates that this writing contains the teaching of the Apostles and, as such, it is the teaching of the Church. If the dignity of work is to be protected, then the basic rights of workers must be respected--the right to productive work, to decent and fair wages, to the organization and joining of.

**Catholic Social Teaching: Christian Life in Society has been submitted to the Subcommittee on the Catechism, United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. Childs has revised and updated that volume. He has also strengthened the selections in the time periods covered by Forell. Many of the books I've read on Christian social justice actually teach a social gospel, which amounts to false teaching. Universalism is a by-product, and there's a real antichrist spirit in them, even though they use Jesus' words (often out of context).

I'd just check that whatever you select is gospel of the kingdom-centered, which Jesus taught.
